Driveways, created by filmmaker Andrew Ahn, has been nominated for two Indie Spirit Awards! The film, Executive Produced by Meriam Alrashid and Ammar Ramzi Mahmood, in conjunction with Maven Pictures, tells the story of a lonesome boy who accompanies his mother on a trip to clean out his late aunt's house, and ends up forming an unexpected friendship with the elderly retiree who lives next door.
Actress Hong Chau has been nominated for Best Female Lead Actor and writing duo, Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, have been nominated for Best First Screenplay.
Driveways truly embodies the independent film spirit. Made on a modest budget, without the massive studio resources behind it, the film tells a story that is small in its scope but huge in its humanity. A true reflection of the power of good storytelling with heart, empathy, and purpose, Ahn's movie reminds us that we all have the ability to forge meaningful and fulfilling relationships with those in our community, despite outward appearances - that as human beings, we have a lot more in common with one another than we have differences.
We wish a sincere and proud congratulations to Hong, Hannah, Paul, and the whole Driveways team. Don't forget to tune in to watch the awards and a possible Driveways win, February 8 at 2PM PT, only on IFC.
